Remembrance Day is always a difficult time: family lost in wars.
In just a short time, it will mark 100 years since WWI. Unfathomable.
Have you ever read "All Quiet on the Western Front"
by Erich Maria Remarque?
My Dad gave me a copy of this book published in 1929. It was one of the reasons why he (18 yrs old) refused to fight in the Second World War. The other reason was that his father, who fought in the First War, encouraged him not to go over, to abstain.
There is so much that can be said, and then there seems to be so little reason why. There are definitely others who are far more eloquent, more capable.
