Central Tech's Art Bldg
The day we went to see the last of Honest Ed's (see previous post), we stopped by my old school. Rather formative, isn't it. Not unlike an institution of detention. This building housed the Art Department. Do you believe it? And was built in 1963, a dreadful period for architecture, in my opinion. Nevertheless, this is where I received my post secondary art education. I might add that there were a number of well-known artists who attended Central Tech's Art Program: Doris McCarthy, Elizabeth Wyn Wood and Donald Neddeau.
This main building of Central Tech, although not the first location of the school, had it's cornerstone laid in 1913. The crest over the main doors is, is in fact, the Coat of Arms for the City of Toronto.
