Familiar

copyright B. Di Lella 2015 Goat drawing in process
Sometimes, especially in the early morning, there isn't a lot of paper around when the whim comes on to start drawing something. Many times I have used old envelopes. If the drawing has some promise, I'll tape it into the sketch book so it doesn't get misplaced. The farm animals seem to have a certain charm about them that the wilderness animals don't have. Is it familiarity? How many of us see goats and donkeys as opposed to bear and moose? Not too many I would think. And yet, for most people, it must be distant memories of children's books that make the farm animals more familiar.
