They Come Quite Close
In the mornings between 7 and 8 they come. The girls come first. Have you ever noticed? The girls always come first to check out the scene. They come quite close too. My girls won't bother them. They know the birds are faster, so there's no point in trying. And the birds are quick to learn that this is so. They land inches from the dogs, looking for seeds that have been blown off the trees. The boys come only after they're quite sure it's safe. But by 8:00 a.m. they are gone and it's time for me to go to the studio with my girls.
