It Means So Much

Sparrow Avenue, Moose Pencil Case

A few days ago I spent some time taking new product shots. I love using the old wood back drop in combination with this antique book. I think it fits with the style of my work.

It's one thing to take a picture of something straight up. It's another to be able to convey a visual story. Stylists and professional photographers do this all the time. But then, that's their profession so they have the knowledge and skills. I, on the other hand, am totally winging it. Still, it's an interesting challenge.

The other day I received a lovely letter from someone who had just received one of my packages. I would love to share what she wrote:

Your artwork looks great online, but it doesn't compare to seeing the real thing.  I'm a huge fan of pen and ink and your style is bold and graphic and prints beautifully.  I can only imagine how labour intensive the process must be.  The workmanship of the cases and the quality of the linen are just top-notch.

It means so much to me when I receive a letter such as this. I spend most of my days in the studio with "my girls". It is quiet, I don't play the radio or music anymore; I like the quiet. But as such, there is no contact until the end of the day at dinner and even then, there is no mention of the work I do. So, it means a lot to me when I receive a letter like this. Thank you, Laurene.
