Little Details.

Well it's typical Spring weather: rain, damp, cold. Along with that, are promises of snow. Pretty cheerful stuff, what c'est?
So instead I look for the little details that bring a smile no matter what.
This sweet little drawing
is on the front of a neighbour's home.
Like a school chalk board.

For the last few days I have been reading family letters dated from 1942 to 1946.  Within them are some of the pieces to the family puzzle that have been missing.  They also leave more questions which can be frustrating. Some of the letters describe things that have only been read in history books; but somehow carry a different weight when read from a hand-written letter. ..

  2. I have some hand written letters of family I never knew, I think they could put so much into a letter, so moving at times. My Mother's father, who I never knew as he died before I was born, wrote to her when my brother was born, he was a poorly little chap my brother, and his words of encouragement are just so moving, I know it was a hard time for my Mum, so it will have meant such a lot. Lovely to have :)

  3. My daughter just sent me a picture of her backyard in Toronto; the lawn furniture is covered in snow.
You are so lucky to have all those letters.
