Sakura Cherry Blossoms

looking down the hill to the water

Hope you had a lovely weekend.

The girls and I went to see  the Sakura Cherry Blossoms in High Park.  I've heard about them for years but never before had the opportunity to see them in full bloom. There are more than 2,000 of them planted along a steep pathway down to the water.

The last few days the weather has been glorious and I took some work with me  so I could stay at the park longer.

I can't help but think of Van Gogh's cherry blossoms.

or Hokusai

Goldfinch and Cherry Tree by Hokusai

When I was little I remember all the children in kindergarten painting pictures of spring time. Cans of syrupy tempra paints were mixed up and placed in baskets; each can of colour had it's own brush. Green, Blue, Pink, White and Brown. Inevitably the grass was green; the sky, blue; the tree blossoms, pink and white and the tree branches, brown.

  1. It's great to get out and enjoy the blossoms while they last. Lovely pictures.

  2. Beautiful photos, the trees look so lovely against the blue sky, it is tempting me to paint some or stamp some?? :)

  3. So glad to hear you did yourself a favour and stayed out in the park longer. The child's picture rivals the Greats'.
