FIELDS: Limited Editions

FIELDS Limited Edition Raven Pouch
Moving right along into February.
Wondering what Wiarton Willie has to say?

Over the weekend I worked on new images to stock in the shop.
Not just my regular work. During the week I'll be launching

 FIELDS
      Limited Editions,
  a separate section.

I'm quite excited about these new pieces. They are all original, one-of-a-kind pieces which allows for more colour and pattern in the work. I have written about them before but I think it's worth repeating:

It is my attempt at honouring  a time period of roughly 100 years ago.

It is my tribute to those
who stepped out of a routine and mundane life
and into an unknown world.
They took a gamble.
They staked their future on a hope and dream.

Some of them were the misfits of their time.
Some of them were young and guileless.
But all of them wanted something better.

It is my tribute to those who sought a freedom,
whether it was in the wilderness of the Yukon and its Gold Rush at the turn of the century
or overseas during the First World War.

  1. I love this concept.
This piece embodies such an interesting mix of the past (the faded pattern) and the present (the diagonal solid blue). It is tricky to combine a completely different colour and you did it so well!
