The End of May

With the end of May approaching I have noticed that the peonies are preparing to open up. They are a beautiful experiment for watercolours.
At the beginning of this month we had a flicker somewhere in the neighbourhood rattling away at something day after day, week after week. Another one, further up the street, was intent on an old metal t.v. antenna.
A few weeks into May a murder of crows would cackle away in the Maple trees around the corner. I'd see them flying in at 5:30 as the girls and I would start our first morning walk. I would think that a group of crows should be called a bicker only because their squawking sounds like bickering.
